Violence commands both literature and life, and always crude and distorted. Imperfect revolves around the genre of teenage violence, where wilful teenagers were led astray and resort to violence to gain superiority and command. They were guided by emotions and often lose their logical sense and many a times, they became remorseful after their course of actions. Violence can only be concealed by a lie, and the lie can only be maintained by violence.
In this plot, it clearly illustrates the numerous occasions where the teenagers committed violence acts without the knowledge of their parents when their parents are cherishing the feeble hope that their child studies hard and outshine others one day. The movie also displayed the power of family love as they gave their child ample opportunities to turn over a new leaf and re-accept them. Another strong theme would be that family members are always there for their child no matter what happens.
With a team of strong casts, this movie is definitely a pleasure to watch. The movie had a well mix of emotional upturn and downturn with Patrick Li lightening up the mood with his strong tinge of humor, sending the audience laughing away. The young and rising stars Edwin Goh and Ian Fang performed relatively well in their debut movie, however they still have lots of room for improvement.
The collaboration between the Hong Kong and Taiwan stars for this movie is a double edged sword. The wide range of languages used in the movie may be quite disturbing; it should be used in moderation. However, on the other hand, given the experience of the overseas actor and actress, they will be in a good spot to lead the young and rising stars in their debut movie. The story plot was chronologically paced, but the scenes were developing too rapidly for audience to apprehend.
Overall, this movie is definitely worth the watch as it relates very well to the teenagers in today’s society. At the same time as we are enjoying the movie, we can have a few key takeaways from this movie and they are relatively valuable in life.
