If you’re one who loves simple breakfasts, like kaya (coconut jam) toast, half-boiled eggs and a cup of traditional Hainanese Kopi, Hua Mui Coffee Shop is probably one of most the notable landmarks to satisfy your tummy, with its 60-year-old tradition in Johor Bahru.
My grandpa, sis and I couldn’t find a seat at the bottom level of the Kopitiam as it’s always crowded, hence we took the stairs up for a seat there. It is yet another retro environment that catches our heart.
The charcoal toasted bread with kaya and butter never fails to amaze our tastebuds. The half-boiled eggs are definitely something to-die-for.
Daylight is by far the best light source and this Kopitiam makes the most out of it by opening all the windows, allowing some fresh air in, giving a sense of energy and well being.
Hua Mui Coffee Shop is honestly a precious gem that you must come visit whenever you’re in Johor. If you have been feeling nostalgic over the past few months, it’s time to pay a visit here for your regular coffee breaks at a reasonable price.
P/S: I paid RM 10 ($4) for the food above.
Cheers.
